In total, the scientists successfully conducted 363 tests, as a result of which they determined that the number of insects in the exit holes of their habitats increased closer to the beginning of the rainy season, and when the accumulation of rainfall of more than 20 centimeters, the difficulty of catching increased, and successful attempts became less.
The findings are consistent with another recent study that found that chimpanzees catch termites in this region at the end of the dry season and the beginning of the rainy season.
